Yes. DiscVault is free for up to 100 movies, with every feature included — scanning, edition tracking, the viewing journal, stats and import/export. It's a real free app, not a time-limited trial. An optional Pro tier removes the 100-movie limit for larger libraries.

Point your phone's camera at the barcode on a disc case. DiscVault looks it up, finds the matching film, and pulls in the cover art, cast and runtime — then files it in your collection in seconds. You confirm the match, and the barcode is cached on your device so the same disc is never looked up twice.

Yes. DiscVault is local-first: your entire collection is stored only on your own device. There's no DiscVault account, no in-app analytics, and nothing is uploaded to us. The app only reaches the network for movie metadata (TMDB) and barcode lookups (UPCItemDB), at your direction. See the Privacy Policy.

DiscVault is an Android app. During the beta you install it by sideloading the APK from this site; it's also distributed through the Solana dApp Store. There's no iOS version yet.

Yes. DiscVault imports a CLZ CSV export, so you can move an existing collection over without re-scanning everything. You can also export your collection to CSV or a JSON backup any time from Settings. More in our CLZ alternative guide.

Yes — it's the heart of the app. DiscVault uses a three-level model: title (the film) → release (a specific product: 4K, Blu-ray, steelbook, slipcover or Criterion edition, with spine number and UPC) → copy (the individual disc you own, with condition, price and photos). Own as many editions and copies as you like.

Yes — DiscVault uses The Movie Database (TMDB) for cover art and film details, and you paste in your own free TMDB key during setup. The app never bundles a shared key. Getting one from TMDB takes a minute.

Browsing and managing your collection works fully offline, because all your data lives on the device. A connection is only needed when you scan or search for a new film, to fetch its metadata and cover art.

It includes a recommender that pulls from the discs you actually own — filtered by mood, runtime and format — or you can hit Surprise me for a random pick. A viewing journal tracks what you've watched and rewatched.

Yes. With your whole collection in your pocket, you can check at the store whether you already own a film — and which edition — before you buy, so you never double-buy by accident.
